I dedicate substantial time to preparation, immersing myself in a diverse array of images, colors, shapes, and other artworks, while also exploring various genres of music, poetry, literature, mythology, and contemporary culture pieces. I don’t adhere to a rigid schedule for my paintings. Most of my works come to life over an evolutionary time frame, often spanning weeks to months. I begin with a blank canvas and often complete the entire piece without sketches or reference materials. Instead I paint directly from my emotions.

I am highly selective regarding the commissions I accept, as I strive to maintain consistency in my style to cultivate a cohesive body of work.

My preferred medium is oil paint applied on wood panels. The use of oil paints, combined with an extender like linseed oil, allows me to maintain an open working time of one to two days, facilitating the process of revisiting and refining a painting. The extender mediums I typically utilize include linseed oil, poppy oil, safflower oil, and walnut oil. I construct my wood panels from 5mm thick plywood, which provides an exceptionally smooth and consistent painting surface, ensuring a reliable and archival quality product.

The brushes I utilize encompass a wide range, from high-end fine art oil paint brushes to cost-effective chip brushes. My preferred choice for nearly every painting is the chip brush, which features a blend of hog hair and nylon bristles and can be easily sourced from hardware stores. These brushes are available in sizes ranging from ½ inch to 6 or 7 inches. Fine art oil paint brushes crafted from hog hair are dependable and offer significant versatility for achieving specific shapes on the canvas. Additionally, I appreciate the use of soft nylon bristle brushes for smoothing large areas of sky or background work.
