My figural work is about seeing the human form as a series of colors and shapes that layer like a landscape. Each nook and cranny, each crevice of the portrait, is an opportunity to amplify or modify the existence of the subject’s internal being and expression in the world. It all begins with an idea, a feeling, an overall sense of who this human is at their deepest, most secretive, level. In some ways I often think it is my way of connecting to other people in the language of the soul.
